NaNoJouMo is BACK!!!

This November, you will see the return of NaNoJouMo to D’Blogala. What is it, you ask? Well, let’s take a trip down Memory Lane, to the post two years ago that started it all:

I was just contemplating my own version of NaNoWriMo. (For those of you unfamiliar with this term, NaNoWriMo is held during the month of November, encouraging writers everywhere to write a 175-page novel by midnight, Nov. 30.) At first I thought of NaNoCroMo, where I would crochet a certain amount every day during November...I think I will try to do that, but I’m also starting NaNoJouMo, an idea borne out of a Twitter conversation between myself and Pam McClung and brought to fruition here...It stands for National Nonstop Journaling Month!

NanojoumologoEach day during November, I will post a word to get you art journaling. A journal jump of sorts—one word a day to inspire or get you thinking. The goal is to journal SOMETHING in your art journal. DOESN’T HAVE TO BE A FULL PAGE...can be a doodle, maybe painting some backgrounds, doing some collage...just SOMETHING every day in your art journal during November. Even if it’s just moving a pencil across the page in a crooked line...

Nothing earth-shattering.

You may say, “Dawn, WHY should I do this?”

Well, I know some of us (many, let’s be honest) have a difficult time getting started. Sometimes we just need a kick in the pants to encourage us. I also want you to learn how to journal a little at a time. Art journaling is an activity that can be done in spurts. You don’t have to create an entire page or spread in one sitting. I have pages in all stages of production! And it’s OK!

So get out that handmade journal, Moleskine, notepad, composition notebook, or whatever you’re using as your art journal right now. If you have several in the works, that’s OK, too! You can pick a different one each day! Just get ready to art journal!!!!

*****

Get ready, folks! It’ll be here before you know it! Who’s in?

I do digital art journaling, and I might just join you, at least for the first part of the month. At Thanksgiving we always load up the family and drive out to the middle of nowhere, with no internets for nearly a week. :) I think this is a great idea! :)

I might give it a try! :D Sounds kind of fun and a great excuse for me to use one of my many journals. ^_~ lol

Me! I'm going to make a tiny folded book and keep it small so I can join in EVERY DAY!!

count me in! i've learned to work small with the ICAD project over on Daisy Yellow, and that's helped me work in small increments and overcome my fear of the blank page, lol

november will be very busy, between NaNoWriMo and NaNoJouMo and other writing projects ;)

I thought about doing this last year, this year I AM going to do it! I'm one of those that needs a kick in the pants!

Whoohoo, this sounds super fun! Im definately one who needs a kick in the pants all the time to get moving. I have so many pages in progress and think this would be awesome as a prompt to add more to them here and there and finally complete a bunch of pages. I can't wait, November can't come quick enough :p

This is something I'd be interested in.. I need a little something to jump start my journaling.. this month of prompts is perfect!

oh, yeah. This is a great idea! I found with the doodle camp prompts that I often end up doing a drawing.. which is not really how I wanted things to go... I got disgusted with myself and have put it up for now. I think word springboards are a good idea, I hope I can get the mind in the right place to just relax more and doodle.. I can hardly wait for Nov.. think we should have some practice runs? I really loved doodlecamp. I am doodling in down times now. Thanks Dawn for opening up this world.. Billie

I'm in! This is just what I need to get into the habit of journaling! Thanks for doing this again, Dawn! Hugs!

I am totally up for this challenge! this is gonna be a fun November!!! Love your methods and style. Just read thru your pens/markers blog and found it extreemly interesting. I love the Faber Castell Artist pens I use the XS and S ones. I just preordered some new colored ones they have in S, can't wait for them to come in stock and ship them my way.
